Ponzi scheme or successful benefit
I came across this post by member name 'DrGalackowitz' on www.wilkowmajority.com forum. Some very interesting comparisons are made, but don't let me try to sway you...see for yourself:
Let me describe this investment opportunity for you. You'll love it. First we're going to take a chunk of your paycheck every month. No you don't have to send in anything we'll just take it from you before you get your check. You employer will also match your "contribution". Oh yeah we'll take that from them too. No don't be silly you don't get any say in it and you don't get to opt out either. What's the matter don't you trust your government? We're going to use your money to pay benefits to other previous "investors" who need the money now for their retirement. Oh don't worry, we're the government we'll take good care of your money for you. Will you get back everything you put into the system? Well of course not silly. Don't forget that there will be lots of people who will want benefits who havn't put in as much as you have so we'll need to spread it around to even things out. Don't be so selfish. No your money won't grow and you'll only get back a fraction of what you put in but we need to make sure the sytem is fair and equitable. Well no...it's not equitable contributions we worry about...it's fair payouts. I mean if someone comes to this country when they are in their 50's and wants retirement benefits how fair is it to them that you had the chance to pay in for 30 more years than they did? Why should they be punished for that? Again. Stop being so selfish. What? Oh. Just sign right here on the dotted line. This is the best investment program you'll ever see. Trust me I'm from the Goverment!
To me, the social security system seems like one big Ponzi scheme. Didn't Bernard Madoff just get sentenced to 150 years for this very thing?

It has been a while
OK folks, I know it has been quite some time since I have written. I took a bit of a hiatus to let things cool down and to see what direction our nation would head. From the looks of it, there is no way to discern which direction we are heading. It would seem like we are the one-legged duck swimming in a circle.
So here are some of my current lines of thinking...
Where does freedom come from? Who decides if a person, a region, a country is free? There is only one correct answer for this. It's the people...those who have chosen a life of liberties born a right to every man as a gift from God - not a gift from any man. It also goes without saying that freedom does come with a price (sometimes brutal and costly). However, freedom is not something to be voted on or debated. A nation's government is not the manager of 'freedom'. It is merely the support staff of the free people.
Too often, the United States government forgets that they are supposed to be SERVING this country, not ruling over it.
So, the next question is...Why? Why are they allowed to push the boundaries of what their support roles are? Because complacent people in our country are too soft, too expectant and taught to believe they are entitled. They need that spend-happy government to give them the things they are unwilling to work for themselves. This in turn creates a vicious cycle of greedy vote seekers willing to pander to the lazy cheese takers in exchange for votes. Life isn't about 'fair' it's about survival of the fittest and if we create a society of weak and whiny people, then we will perpetually weaken our ability to sustain and survive.
Despite what the individual issues or platforms are, there should ALWAYS be one root denominator that trumps all - maintaining our FREEDOM. If we sacrifice the security and safety of all for the purpose of comforting and providing for the few - then we shall all be sacrificed and nothing will be left - there will be no freedom.
This brings us to...What? What is the solution (notice that I did not say 'compromise')? In blunt terms, we need to quit worrying about hurting feelings and trying to make everyone happy. It's not possible anyway. What we need to do is raise our children with discipline, learning to respect others, understanding that it is OK to believe in God, in their country, in their families. Teach them that hard work, determination, sticking together and forming meaningful lasting relationships is what binds the fabric of a free society. This does not happen near enough in our generation.
We must search deep within ourselves and find that grit and determination that our fathers and grandfathers found every single day of their lives. We must decide that we want to find our identity again. We have rebelled long enough against what we know is the right way to live our lives. It's time to come home to our free America. Mother liberty is ringing her bell - it's time her prodigal son returns.

"Really Hard Times a Coming" by Dr. M. Sidney Wallace
(Thanks also goes to my Father-in-law, Bert, who was kind enough to forward this to me.)
The nation is currently in the beginning of a financial dilemma. Ever since the founding of the nation over 200 years ago we have had similar hard times. There were recessions in the 1800s. There were boom and bust periods in the 1900s. However there is one unique factor that makes this current malady seem more severe to the masses.
From 1800 to 1900 the federal government was busy building a nation and fighting a civil war over individual rights. If an individual wanted something, they worked for it. Individuals without any goals simply went through their life without any rewards. In this respect, nothing has changed.
From 1900 to 2000 the nation fought two world wars, and two undeclared wars. The economy experienced a financial depression in the 1930s and subsequent recessions every few years after. Economic boom and bust are natural cycles like global climate changes. After the financial depression of the 1930s it was not political spending schemes, but a world war that got the nation's economy back on its feet. Massive spending on arms brought the nation back to productivity. After the war the United States was the only industrial base that had not been destroyed by the war so the rebuilding dollars continued to flow.
In the great depression of the 1930s the American population learned to take care of themselves. Times were extremely hard and millions of families were hungry, but they survived without food stamps and welfare payments.
In the 1960s America's government lead by President Johnson, the Democrat Party and willing Republicans passed liberal compassion legislation. Never again would anyone go to bed hungry as long as there was potential tax dollars in some other person's wallet. Americans have been indoctrinated for the last sixty years to look to their government to provide for all their wants. However the American government produces absolutely nothing and only has the ability to redistribute assets from one individual to another.
In the following decades until the end of the century, the American government continued to increase the governmental assistance programs to the general population simply to curry political favor with the masses. Now with the complete national education system in the hands of future socialist the population is taught that it is the responsibility of the United States government to take care of everything from cradle to grave.
Gainfully employed or not, individuals are encouraged to get food stamps. If you want to live in a nice house, individuals are encouraged to get a mortgage guaranteed by the federal government. Families with children are encouraged to send them to a government school where day care services are provided and they will be fed while there.
In prior years when economic times were hard, individuals found ways to survive by using their God given brains to figure out a solution. They cut back on their acquisitions, they found ways to save, they found second jobs, and they became more selective in their purchases. They bought a pair of twenty dollar tennis shoes instead of a hundred dollar designer pair. If they wanted to be entertained, they went to the public library and checked out a good book instead of spending $10 on a movie rental.
When the bread winner got laid off from his job, he found another job, even if he had to relocate to another part of the country to work. Ever wonder if an experienced Michigan auto worker could find a job at a South Carolina or Alabama assembly plant? If a worker got laid off from a $40 per hour job, he did not hesitate to take a part time job for minimum wage to feed his family and pay his rent. This is called personal integrity and acceptance of responsibility.
If help was available, it was appreciated, but it was not assumed to be there. As it has always been in the history of the world, the only safety net was the individual themselves. Individuals with a goal somehow always managed to achieve their goal while individuals waiting for someone else to take care of them continued to flounder in the unpleasantness.
During this great media and liberal policy depression of 2008 plus, three groups will emerge.
1. The political elite that are protected by the party politics as in the old Soviet empire of the last century. This group never suffers as long as the party stays in political power. You can see them on television every night telling the masses how they are going to make it better for them.
2. A group of self sufficient individuals that will actually get ahead because they will not accept the equality BS of the party politics. This group will do whatever it takes to survive and will actually get ahead because of their ability to think for themselves and not depend on anyone else for their personal responsibilities.
3. The masses of aimless, poorly educated, individuals that will stand around holding their hands, and wait for their government to fairly and equally provide for their needs. This group assumes that it is their government's responsibility to take care of them. Really hard times are coming for this group, but their hard times will be shared equally.
Which group will you be in?

Alright - you wanted it...you got it!
Now that the democraps have been successful in brainwashing the majority of the lemmings existing within our society, they will actually have to get to work.
I would challenge every person out there to make a note of several things this November 5th, 2008:
1) What is the price of gasoline and/or diesel fuel?
2) What do your daily staples (bread, milk, eggs, toiletries, etc) in life cost?
3) What your current tax rate is?
4) Also make a mental note (you should write this down) of what the National Security Posture is.
There are several other observations you can make that impact your personal situations, but write them down, save receipts, make notes, etc. In four years we can look back to this little time capsule of documentation and see just how much Dear Leader Chairman Maobama (thanks Mike Church) has done for our country.
Not only that, but the democrap controlled congress will have to actually legislate and be responsible for what they do and don't do. They no longer have anyone else to blame.
Speaking of Blame...the loony left has consistently blamed everything in their miserable lives on President Bush. Well, you better bet that what is good for them is good for you and me. From now on, anything that goes wrong in my life, my friends lives, my family's lives, etc - I am blaming Obama and the democraps. If gas goes up a single cent I will blame Obama. If the cost of daily necessities goes up at all I will blame Obama, If the cost of college goes up I will blame Obama. If the cost of anything in our lives goes up, I am blaming Obama. If there is a natural disaster that strikes our nation I am blaming Obama. If another country strikes against us I am blaming Obama. Anything that goes wrong you can be assured I am blaming Obama. That is what they have done to President Bush and wrongly so. There is no justification for blaming him for the housing crisis when it is factually proven to be the democraps fault.
Make no mistake that there is no bitterness involved here. I am content with the choices made here - Obama you have the controls. Don't screw up a single thing because the whole world is now watching you more than ever.
Now all we have to do is take it on the chin and rope a dope for a little while as they try their best to ruin our country. Once they tire out and the people come to their collective senses, we can let the adults run things again and get the country back on track only as Conservative Reagan Republicans can.

Ronald Reagan quotes
"Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again. "
"When those who are governed do too little, those who govern can - and often will - do too much."
"In some dim beginning, man created the institution of government as a convenience for himself. And, ever since that time, government has been doing its best to become an inconvenience. "
"The...inescapable truth is: government does not have all the answers. In too many instances, government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them."
"...The nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth is a government program."
"Individual liberty depends upon keeping government under control. "
"The dustbin of history is littered with remains of those countries that relied on diplomacy to secure their freedom. We must never forget...in the final analysis...that it is our military, industrial and economic strength that offers the best guarantee of peace for America in times of danger."
"Government does not tax to get the money it needs; government always finds a need for the money it gets."
"Our loyalty lies with little taxpayers, not big spenders. What our critics really believe is that those in Washington know better how to spend your money than you, the people, do. But we're not going to let them do it, period. "
"Terrorism is the preferred weapon of weak and evil men. "
"Live each day to the fullest. Live each day with enthusiasm, optimism and hope. If you do, I am convinced that your contribution to this wonderful experiment we call America will be profound. "
"Don't let anyone tell you that America's best days are behind her - that the American spirit has been vanquished. We've seen it triumph too often in our lives to stop believing in it now. "
"This democracy of ours, which sometimes we've treated so lightly, is more than ever a comfortable cloak, so let us not tear it asunder, for no man knows, once it is destroyed, where or when he will find its protective warmth again. "
